Scrap Metal Anti-Theft Legislation

Content brought to you by Full Circle Recycling

Back on March 26th of this year the state of Wisconsin enacted legislation that requires all scrap purchases to be able to be tracked back to the seller. We were ahead of the game and had measures in place for when and if the time came to accommodate this. Due to the high price of the scrap market there have been a lot of thefts, which caused this legislation to become necessary. I can tell you that daily I receive e-mails from ISRI (Institute of Scrap Recycling) about how someone stole light poles or manhole covers or copper wire. Now we have to have some way of identifying the purchase to the customer our software allows us to do this for you quickly and easily. I know that this might seem to be a pain but feel good knowing that we are doing our part to maintain another area of security. We all know that it is the honest people who end up paying for theft; whether it be in insurance higher insurance premiums, higher cost of products, etc. So when we ask you for your license or if it is on file it might take a moment longer but it is ensuring some control and accountability on everyone's part. This is a link to the bill that the state enacted.
